Description:

Our state of the art Palmerston North campus is seeking to appoint a Student Support Assistant (Teacher Aide) on a part-time basis until December 2025 (30 hours per week, term time only). This role is Monday - Friday 8.30am - 3pm during term time.
There is an opportunity for an additional 5 hours per week to be worked from 3pm - 4pm undertaking cleaning if interested.
This role involves working alongside our classroom teachers, on a one-to-one basis with individual students, as well as small groups. The role also requires the ability to monitor and gather data and communicate with family and staff.
While induction will be provided, the following experience and skills are essential:
- Recent experience working with young people, particularly those at a similar age range.
- Experience supporting young people with learning challenges.
- Experience applying effective strategies and opportunities for learning.
- An understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and of different learning methods.
- A good level of digital competency.
- Ability to cater for a student’s varying needs, including implementation of strategies to support development of communication and learning.
- Excellent relationship building and communication skills.
- Patience, resilience, adaptability and empathy.
Anticipated start date for the role is Term 4, 2024.
