Description:
APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE POSITION OF CANDIDATE ADVANCED NURSE PRACTITIONER (CANP) ADVANCED NURSE PRACTITIONER (ANP) - COLORECTAL SURGICAL UNSCHEDULED CARE IN ST. VINCENT’S UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.
In alignment with HSE priorities, the focus of this role is to deliver integrated, person-centered care for patients requiring unscheduled colorectal surgical interventions. The role of the Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (cANP)/Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) is critical in supporting the management of acute colorectal cases, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive timely, effective care in emergency settings.
The cANP/RANP will collaborate with the colorectal surgery team to develop and implement care pathways for unscheduled surgical patients, enhancing the continuity and quality of care from initial assessment through to post-surgical follow-up. This role will involve managing cases that present as surgical emergencies, such as gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding or other acute colorectal conditions, and ensuring seamless integration of care across the acute setting and community services.
The role requires working in both acute hospitals and integrated services, supporting colorectal patients and teams to manage acute presentations and post-operative recovery. The ANP will play a key role in reducing delays in surgical interventions, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring effective communication between surgical teams and other healthcare professionals involved in the patient’s care.
