ABOUT YOU

You’ll be a senior electrical engineer with proven experience in electrical distribution or transmission design and pricing or construction. You’ll hold a BE Electrical or Diploma with minimum 3 years’ industry experience. To succeed you will also have high integrity with maturity as a leader and ability to act with consistency and composure.
We’re looking for a professional who can demonstrate the following :

  • Strong customer focus with interpersonal and relationship building skills in a multi- cultural environment

  • Critical thinking and contemplative skills with the ability to solve problems and make decisions will be crucial

  • Ability to organise and plan own workload and the workload of others to achieve results is essential
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Good knowledge of distribution substation switchgear, transformers and associated equipment , Network HV and LV infrastructure, overhead and underground services, Network reinforcements, relocation of plant, electricity supply distribution supplies including new subdivisions and capability to resource consent from local bodies, other agencies
  • Proven ability to motivate and influence key stakeholders
  • Competent in MS Office suite with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
  • A Full, clean NZ Driver’s licence

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Delivery Manager- Design Estimation and Gas Works, you’ll be responsible primarily, to manage all Capital works, Tenders, ECI’s of our key client Vector and ensure that these are captured into Northpower system. You will provide information to relevant people to review for Go/No-Go scenarios. You will also be accountable to:

  • Provide leadership, guidance and participate on all Capital works with regards to design, pricing, planning and tendering accordance with Customer requirements and to contribute to the overall business success of Northpower
  • Report to the Delivery Manager on issues regarding Tenders / ECI’s
  • Participate in monthly meetings giving feedback and replying to queries/questions from customers
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members and client representatives
  • Negotiate, investigate, monitor tenders and contracts effectively and handover projects to Build Manager
  • Actively seek out and contract to perform designated projects; increase the number and scope of jobs
  • Pro-actively promote a safety culture and deliver positive outcomes without compromising Health, Safety, Quality and the Environment (HSQE)
