  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Environmental Studies, Climate Change, Geography, Politics, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Excel. Experience in Python and/or SQL an advantage.
  • Worked in the public, private, or NGO sector relating to economics, project finance, climate change, net zero, carbon markets or similar. And/or equivalent postgraduate experience in academia.
  • A combination of an academic track record with relevant work experience that shows responsibility for the delivery of models, reports, briefings, or other outputs.
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm for addressing climate change in the corporate sector.

Responsibilities:

YOUR TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team of climate and carbon market analysts, researchers and modellers. This vacancy is in our carbon credit project development cost, opportunity and forecasting team.
The successful candidate will take a lead on providing insight and building models on the economics of developing different carbon projects, both now and in future. They will collate and distil qualitative and quantitative data from a wide variety of different sources including academic research, project documents, and project developer interviews. They will have a good understanding of (micro)-economics and/or project finance, and should be comfortable in building financing models in Excel.
You will be driven, a creative thinker and intellectually curious. You should be able to effectively manage your own time, enjoy working closely with colleagues to drive new insights, and be capable of communicating complex issues to colleagues and senior level audiences, both in writing and verbally. Like everyone in the team, you should also be passionate about improving the state of the natural world and addressing the challenge of climate change.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Qualitative and quantitative research on the carbon credit market, with a particular focus on leading our research into the economics of project development.
  • Advanced data handling, and modelling using Excel, PowerBI, Python (or R) and/or SQL.
  • Working closely with colleagues in UK and elsewhere to continually advance the data and insights we provide to our subscription clients on the carbon credit market.
  • Communicating insights both internally and externally, delivered to clients through PowerPoint reports, an online platform and custom research projects.
