JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cardiac Physiologist to contribute towards providing quality diagnostic services to patients recruited for Heart Failure Clinical Trials across recruitment sites in Glasgow. The candidate will work across a broad portfolio of clinical trials under the globally successful Heart Failure Research Group. The candidate will be involved in the design and implementation of a number research studies within local Glasgow hospitals, including clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (phases 1-4) and medical device trials.
The post holder will act as a source of advice and expertise regarding cardiac diagnostic imaging for research studies. They will be responsible for the planning, coordination and conduct of clinical trials along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work to high standards across a variety of tasks with vigilant regard to all requirements. These include ensuring the study is run effectively according to scientific, clinical, ethical, financial and legal requirements and targets.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. The post holder has a senior role in the provision of a highly skilled, professional and efficient cardiac diagnostic services on behalf of the Heart Failure Clinical Research Team to patients recruited for all Heart Failure Clinical Trials when required.
  2. Responsible for the planning and management of cardiac diagnostic services according to the clinical trial Protocols. Regularly prioritise and organise workload to ensure continuity of service and patient care.
  3. Adapt new standards and/or guidelines to provide new procedure and policy and any new changes and advances in cardiac procedures/investigations.
  4. Participate and provide information/results in clinical trials either in a primary role or assist with clinical trials performed by multiple Heart Failure Clinical Trial teams.
  5. Responsible for the development and improvement of the capabilities of the research team through training and education associated with the study protocol, the development of strategies to meet individual study demands and for the safe and accurate implementation of the study by self and others
  6. Report echocardiograms as an independent practitioner and make the decision to inform the Cardiologist or Study leads of an unexpected finding or unusual appearance.
  7. Act decisively in a senior and supportive capacity for other Senior Physiologists through undertaking responsibilities for reporting the echocardiograms of others.
  8. Practice at all times within the Code of Professional Conduct to ensure that the needs of each research project are met.
  9. Input of accurate clinical study data into CRFs and eCRFs and where appropriate maintaining patient records
  10. Overall responsibility for proper maintenance of study site files and other research records with support from the HF admin and PM team, including the development of study tools and monitoring systems and ensuring secure back up of data.
