The Position
pRED Cardiovascular & Metabolism, Immunology, Infectious Diseases and Ophthalmology (CMI2O), located in Basel, Switzerland, focuses on the discovery and early development of innovative treatments for specific diseases that affect the lives of millions. In the cardiovascular and metabolism area, we are developing cutting-edge therapies to treat metabolic diseases. As a member of the metabolism group, you will be part of an international group that includes scientists and clinicians who are developing medicines for the future.
We are currently looking for a science operation-oriented professional with a strong background in metabolism, a proven track record in managing target identification and validation in a drug discovery setting, strong leadership skills, and the proven ability to effectively lead projects in a matrix organization. You will be responsible for aligning a team of scientists and research associates that brings new targets into the portfolio and advances them to clinics.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as an operational champion providing key guidance and oversight in the deployment and execution of the CVM discovery strategy
  • Serve as a key operational member of the CVM discovery team working closely by interacting with senior leaders and key stakeholders across the pRED discovery technology ecosystem along with scientific experts from the CVM therapeutic area and functions
  • Work collaboratively to continually evolve the CVM discovery strategy by innovating new approaches, staying up to date with the scientific literature, actively engaging with internal and external communities, and continuously evaluating new technologies and biology in the CVM space

Who you are

  • A PhD degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field with minimally 5 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry or biotech sector.
  • Established a track record of scientific accomplishments and successful collaborations in the CVM space
  • Proven track record of engagement with senior leaders and key stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong awareness of the emerging trends and technology developments across the drug discovery arena

In addition to your operative skills, we are looking for an individual with a growth mindset and a proven track record in interacting in a matrix set-up with Senior Leaders.
You like to think outside the box and have demonstrated the ability to implement new ideas in a fast-paced research environment.
Your excellent understanding of the operations processes in early drug discovery & development, combined with your capability to act as a coach and mentor teams, are required to be successful in this role.
