JOB SUMMARY

The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is accountable to surgically scrub in and help with equipment. Helps the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures is a secondary assignment. Prepares room and equipment, transports and monitors patients. May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience

Responsibilities:

  • Helps Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy.
  • Related duties include: preparing and maintaining sterile 1 fields for lab procedures; printing film and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases; circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms; monitoring patient’s ECG and vital signs while in Catheterization Lab, notifying Physician of variances, and providing emergency procedures (CPR, defibrillation, etc.) as needed.
  • Performs pre-and post-procedure care. Monitors and orients patients for specials/catheterization procedures.
  • Answers related questions to make patient relaxed. Transports patients to and from procedural area.
  • Communicates relevant medical information to physicians and other staff through required documentation on specified medical record forms.
  • Records, enters into data computer and calculates catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis.
  • Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self and staff.
  • Maintains inventory of and orders procedure room supplies. Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use.
