Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The role of Lead Early Childhood Educator requires a highly motivated individual responsible for the planning and implementation of an age appropriate program designed to meet the developmental needs of the individual child. The incumbent will ensure adherence to the YMCA Mission, Core Values, Vision as well as all legislative requirements set forth by the Ministry of Community, Family and Children’s Services, County of Simcoe, Public Health, and Fire Chief.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and the YMCA in Canada.
  • Demonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership, facility users and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.
  • Be responsible for the management of 3 full time staff and a complement of supply teachers.
  • Monitor and manage a set budget for the daycare facility
  • Work closely with our government partners in carrying out all policies and procedures of Care of Newcomer Children Program
  • Create and implements an age appropriate program, including music and art components, in accordance with the National LINC Childcare Requirements.
  • Implement activities that promote respect for the values, customs and traditions of other cultures.
  • Participate in the planning, preparation and clean-up of daily snacks and activities.
  • Maintain accurate, current records regarding attendance, medical and personal history for those children registered in child care.
  • Monitor children with respect to their safety, health, and well-being.
  • Provide emotional stability for children experiencing separation anxiety or distress.
  • Maintain positive communication with parents, children and co-workers.
  • Provide service to support the participants and their families.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the children, their families, and staff of the YMCA.
  • Attend and participate in staff team meetings.
  • Adhere to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.
  • Represent the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka in a professional manner.
