Job Description
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Career Advisor will be responsible for providing support for self-identifying women in YWCA Metro Vancouver’s Changing Gears Program. Changing Gears is a free Class 1 Truck Driving & Employment Program for eligible self-identifying women funded by the Government of Canada and Province of BC. This group-based Project Based Labor Market training (PBLMT) project provides an opportunity for women to improve their employability skills, secure a Melt Approved Class 1 Driver’s license and participate in work experience while receiving ongoing support from Changing Gears staff .

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate engaging employability and job search workshops using hybrid technology, in person and virtually
  • Provide ongoing program and on-site training support and coaching to participants
  • Conduct regular scheduled check ins of participants
  • Maintain and submit timely, accurate monthly participant attendance reports to WorkBC case managers
  • Assist clients with resumes, cover letters, interview preparation
  • Maintain timely, accurate participant action plan records and uphold strict confidentiality
  • Attend scheduled meetings with program staff to discuss program updates & participant needs
  • Other duties as required including administrative tasks
