Who we need:
Toronto Film School (TFS) is seeking a proactive and dynamic Career Development Officer to join our team. This role is essential in equipping students with the skills and connections they need to launch successful careers. You will work closely with full-time, on-campus students in their final term, providing 1:1 career coaching, facilitating industry networking events, and managing relationships with employers to secure strategic job placements. The successful candidate will work closely with TFS experts, industry partners, and students to create tailored career pathways, facilitate job placements, and enhance industry relationships.

What you will do:

  • Career Services Orientation: Lead career services orientation sessions for students, ensuring they are well-prepared from the start of their academic journey through to graduation.
  • Career Pathway Development: Collaborate with TFS stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive Career Services Playbook, providing clear career pathways tailored to each TFS program.
  • Industry Relationship Management: Oversee the career component of key industry partnerships, ensuring deliverables are met and facilitating higher-value job opportunities for students.
  • One-on-One Career Coaching: Provide targeted coaching, evaluation, and job referral services to students during their final term, helping them transition smoothly into the workforce.
  • Job Opportunity Facilitation: Vet and facilitate both publicly posted and informal job referral opportunities. Connect relevant opportunities directly to new graduates or coordinate postings on curated TFS alumni job boards.
  • Occasional Business Development: Support business development activities as needed, though this will not be a primary focus of the role.

What you bring:

  • Proven experience in career services, career coaching, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Familiarity with the film, arts, or creative industries is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite
  • Expertise in document management and strong record keeping
  • Experience working with students is an asset
