JOB SUMMARY

Air Command is the Headquarters for the Royal Air Force, and the Career Management directorate is responsible for apportioning workforce to fill job roles, ensure appropriate conditions of service and balance business need with personal aspirations where possible. Career Management sits within the Director People AOR.
The role of the Administrative Support is to assist the Career Managers in the delivery of Career Management. The workforce is made up of a range of military ranks, and Civil Servants.
Where business needs allow, some home-based working will be supported. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required reasonable adjustments.
The position is advertised at 37 hours a week. However, part time would be considered in line with business needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of Administrative Support is responsible for:

  • Conduct all activity in accordance with Standards and Evaluation as prescribed process.
  • Operate JPA effectively.
  • Raise Assignment Orders.
  • Conduct data quality checks/rectifications and signpost areas of issue to relevant Career Managers.
  • Maintain and update all relevant Career Management spreadsheets and records.
  • Assist Career Managers in preparing for promotion boards as necessary; production of pre-boarding spreadsheets in-line with eligibility criteria.
  • Assist with electronic filing/edossier processing.
  • Signpost service personnel to core Career Management policy or relevant Career Manager.
  • Schedule Open Door Interview sessions between Career Manager and Service Personnel.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
