Experience and Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- Preferred majors: Student Affairs, Counseling, Human Resources, Sales, or a similar area.
- One to three years of experience in recruitment and selection practices, community relations, economic development, or any combination of similar or applicable experience.
- Background in event planning, marketing, and public relations preferred.
Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE:
Under general direction of the Director of Career Services, this position is responsible for the overall development, growth, and maintenance of a comprehensive AIU Internship Program. The Internship Coordinator is responsible for developing and retaining effective relationships with regional employers to expand opportunities that lead to the ultimate recruitment of AIU students and graduates. This position will also assist with on-campus recruitment events and will assist the Student Employment Specialist in overseeing general on-campus student employment and student professional development efforts. This role supports the Director in facilitating professionalism programming to students, employers, faculty, as well as current and future key constituents of the university. The position encompasses the following three distinct areas of responsibility: Employer Relations, Event and Program Development, and Database Management.
DUTIES:
- Provide assistance to students seeking internship opportunities, including providing instruction on the registration process for academic internships.
- Conducts pre- and post- internship workshops for interns.
- Design and guide strategy for developing employment relationships with corporate recruiters and hiring managers to increase the number and variety of internships and full-time employment opportunities for students.
- Consult with faculty and administration to target development efforts. Manage recruitment functions.
- Advance the American International University brand by providing education on the value of AIU students and graduates.
- Engage prospective employers for targeted career events and recruiting programs.
- Conduct site visits to current and potential internship sites to evaluate learning/work environments.
- Consult employers regarding skills and competencies needed to meet the talent requirements.
- Actively engage with the community and economic development organizations.
- Assist with the development of policies and procedures in compliance with fair and equitable recruiting and selection standards.
- Develop appropriate marketing campaigns to promote student participation in AIU Internship program.
- Collect and maintain internship participation data and provide reports for stakeholders.
- Survey employers and develop necessary university reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
