JOB OVERVIEW

Amity International school, Abu Dhabi is looking to appoint a well-qualified, experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Higher Education & Careers (HEC) Counsellor for the secondary school.
In order to support the growing Senior School, Amity is seeking a new Careers and University counsellor. The successful applicant will have experience and a drive to develop the provision through the Secondary school, working closely with students, teachers and parents. The school is comprised of over seventy nationalities and for this reason, desired university destinations are varied. The typical Amity pupil is highly aspirational and hardworking and has high expectations about their future university destination. We are looking for candidates who:

  • Has experience of and an up to date working knowledge of UCAS
  • Has experience of International university placement including US, Canada, Australia
  • Understands the relevance of A levels and BTECs on the global platform
  • Liaises with universities to organise higher education fairs and university visits
  • Develops and oversees a careers curriculum for Years 7-13, liaise with Deputy Head Pastoral and Heads of Year to integrate careers education into KS3 and KS4 curricula
  • Supports Year 9 pupils with their GCSE choices and Year 11 pupils with their A Level choices with a view to further studies and careers
  • Has experience with careers education platforms, such as Unifrog, to help pupils identify skills, interests and career profiles
  • Establishes and develops links with employers to coordinate appropriate work experience opportunities
  • Arranges guest speakers to share their career journeys
  • Maintains a strong alumni network
