  • You have experience of delivering careers guidance and advice, ideally with a relevant professional qualification and in a higher education environment.
  • You are exceptionally organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You are adept at planning and delivering engaging presentations and workshops using active learning approaches to a variety of student and staff audiences, both online and in person.
  • You are confident using data and feedback to inform planning and service delivery.
  • You can demonstrate strong people and project management skills.
  • You have an understanding of the unique career needs of international students in higher education and how to address these.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Join an innovative, enthusiastic and professional team based in the University of Bristol Careers Service. You will work with current students and recent graduates, supporting their career development through delivery of a range of careers interventions including one-to-one guidance appointments, presentations and workshops. As a senior member of the Information, Advice and Guidance Team, you will work with colleagues to develop our central programme of careers support, open to all students, as well as leading on discrete projects. The post holder will also have responsibility for coordinating and developing our work with international students.
This is a full-time opportunity until 28 November 2025, covering the substantive post holder who is taking a career break. The role has line management responsibility, and you can expect professional development opportunities and a flexible working environment. As a student-facing role, you will predominantly work from our on-campus Careers Service at 5 Tyndall Avenue with the opportunity for some at-home working.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  • Providing careers advice and guidance to students and recent graduates through one-to-one appointments.
  • Designing and delivering presentations, interactive workshops and online learning.
  • Using management information, student feedback and labour market information to shape and inform our central careers programme.
  • Working with our employer engagement teams to ensure our central provision is supported by a relevant and integrated employer-led skills programme.
  • Leading on our work with international students, ensuring provision meets their needs.
  • Managing a Careers Adviser and International Employability Officer.
  • Providing leadership and support to the wider IAG team, deputising for the IAG Manager alongside other Careers Consultants, when needed.
