Description:
OUR MOST RECENT OFSTED SECTION 5 INSPECTION (MAY 2023) MENTIONED THAT “CAREERS INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE IS STRONG THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL. INFORMATION FOR SIXTH-FORM STUDENTS HELPS TO PREPARE THEM FOR LEARNING AT UNIVERSITY, IN THE WORKPLACE, IN THE PERFORMING ARTS AND ALSO IN A RANGE OF OTHER DESTINATIONS. STUDENTS APPRECIATE THIS PERSONALISED APPROACH”.
We are keen to appoint a well-qualified and experienced Careers & UCAS Coordinator to oversee all CEIAG programmes at BOA. More specifically, we are looking for an individual to be responsible for the coordination and smooth running of all work experience programmes for Year 10 students, as well as providing all relevant information, advice and guidance to our Post-16 students about higher education, apprenticeships, employment and the labour market.
It is important to note the following:
- All students at BOA have at least two meaningful encounters with employers, industry and higher education through our well-established links and curriculum delivery;
- The Academy works alongside SIPS Education to plan and coordinate work experience for Year 10 students;
- At least 70% of Year 11 students remain at BOA for their Post-16 education;
- 80% - 85% of Year 13 students apply to institutions of higher education and vocational training through UCAS / UCAS Conservatoires
The person we seek to appoint will have ideally achieved the Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development and will also have excellent communication skills in order to effectively network with a range of stakeholders, including BOA Alumni.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant experience of working in an educational context delivering careers advice and UCAS guidance
- An excellent understanding of the GATSBY benchmarks for Good Career Guidance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- Excellent personal organisation and time management skills
- The ability to work to deadlines and to problem-solve
- A genuine interest in working with young people to improve their life chances
