Caretaker - General Maintenance – Student Accommodation

We are looking for someone to join our Roost on a full-time basis for a fixed term period of 4 months, with the successful candidate working 5 days out of 7 with shifts between 8am & 8pm. Our new Caretaker will become a key part of our existing, friendly and experienced property team at our St MungosProperty in Glasgow.

Hours: 37.5 per week working a week of 8am to 4pm shifts followed by a week of 12pm to 8pm shifts
Salary: £23,400.00
Term: 4 Months

The Site: St Mungo is having a team of 12 people consisting of management, housekeeping, maintenance, and customer service advisors, who cover weekday and weekend and day and night shifts. St Mungos is the perfect location for students studying at both the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University, which are within walking distance of the property. For students at the University of Glasgow, public transport is available from Buchanan Bus Station, which is a 7-minute walk from the property. The vibrant city centre is also within walking distance.
St. Mungos is a property which boasts many social spaces and facilities, including a gym with the latest high-tech equipment, air-conditioning and surround sound, a cinema room with access to Netflix, Apple TV and Amazon Prime, outdoor garden and courtyard, and a hosting kitchen which is available for small gatherings or cooking classes. These facilities are available to use 24 hours a day. Located away from the social spaces in a separate area of the building is the study space, which provides a tranquil and calming area for residents to hit the books and study.
The property has 349 beds, comprising of 173 self-contained studio flats and 176 bedrooms housed within twenty-nine flats. Our cluster flats range from four beds to seven beds and have a spacious shared kitchen and living space. Our self-contained studios are ideal for students who like their own space.

As a Caretaker at Student Roost, you are involved in all aspects of building maintenance, from carrying out small repairs to escorting third-party contractors to any issues within your building. You will also take the lead on compliance checks with your keen eye for detail and precise reporting skills. And just as you care for our buildings and the people within them, well take care of you.

• Work closely with the site manager and assistant manager to ensure any maintenance issues that require a third-party contractor are raised and reported and that planned preventative maintenance is carried out in line with the appropriate timescales.

Psst… there are some challenges too

• There is a lot of statutory compliance jobs with this role, to make sure we are keeping our residents safe, so sometimes it might feel a little repetitive.
• Summer turnaround: This is when our residents leave us and its the busiest time in our calendar. It can involve clearing out residents rooms, supporting with higher than usual levels of maintenance, and just generally helping out.
