Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, collaborative and data-driven Carrier Manager to join our Operations Management team. The Carrier Procurement Manager will demonstrate sound knowledge of negotiation strategies while creating cost estimates/forecasts and maintain strategic relationships with key providers. This position will report directly to the Sr. Director of Commercial Operations.
This position is hybrid with the expectation to report to our Fenton office, as well as meet with vendors as needed.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-10 years experience in a related technical field (transportation, supply chain, procurement, pricing, revenue management, consulting, strategy)
  • Experience in transportation negotiation, familiarity with industry terms and ability procure best in class providers and rates
  • Experience running projects that add value to the business
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience with visualization tools like Tableau or QlikSense is strongly preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct RFP’s, procurement events and strategic conversations with LTL, TL, Intermodal and Auto carriers
  • Negotiate contracts with key transportation providers, including costs, service and quality
  • Perform analysis and calculation of transportation costs and develop strategies to reduce cost and improve service
  • Collaborate with other departments for strategic plan development and execution
  • Conduct market research, cost estimates and forecasts
  • Evaluate sourcing procedures and present improvement strategies to senior management for approval
  • Maintain and create strategic relationships and develop alignment with key providers

Qualifications:Education, License or Certification:
