Overview
The University of Ottawa Heart Institute is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Case Costing Analyst, preferably with experience in a complex healthcare setting. The successful applicant will be accountable for the maintenance and analysis of all processes for the Ontario Case Costing (OCC) submission including the collection, preparation, integration and reporting of financial and statistical data requirements. This position requires expertise in relational databases, and/or analytic tools, as well as a strong ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensuring the ongoing accuracy of the financial, patient demographic, and utilization data to be loaded and processed in the case costing system.
- Setting up, auditing and validating data for the final Ontario Case Costing (OCC) submission.
Educational background
- Post-secondary level Finance/Health Administration, Computer Science, Health Sciences (e.g., nursing, physiotherapy), Information Systems, or equivalent experience
Experience
The ideal candidate for the Case Costing Analyst role should have:
- Hospital experience in Finance and/or Decision Support recommended and previous experience with Case Costing an asset
- Preferably knowledge and understanding of the Ministry of Health reporting standards
- Knowledge of hospital administrative datasets, including, but not limited to: MIS, DAD, NACRS, and Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT)
- Familiarity with hospital clinical systems (e.g., EPIC, Cerner or Meditech)
- The ability to work with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring data accuracy and process improvements, while also working independently to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to quickly learn new software and systems to improve data management and case costing practices.
- Experience with analytics tools for data analysis and reporting and strong critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze complex data
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Initiative, resourcefulness and a proactive approach to resolving or understanding issues
- Ability to handle additional tasks as assigned.
- English required and French preferred.
