SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager of Family Reunification and Anti-Trafficking, the SP-FR Case Manager provides home study and post release services for unaccompanied children released from the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) DUCO custody to sponsors in the local community. The Case Manager’s primary responsibility is to conduct home studies in order to assess the protective capacity of the proposed sponsor and placement to ensure the child’s safety, well-being, and permanency. In addition, provide post release services connecting unaccompanied children and their families with community-based resources in order to address core service needs; monitor the safety and well-being of the child; provide support to empower the child and sponsor; and to promote a successful family reunification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or the equivalent of two – four years’ experience in a social service environment that demonstrates sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations.
  • License and Credentials
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Bilingual in Spanish

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Program Manuals and Operational Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of client files documentation and record keeping.
  • Skilled in using personal computer, various software, email and internet.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate ethical boundaries and professional client relationship.
  • Ability to drive and maintain reliable personal transportation.
  • Must have clean driving record.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel requirements for the position includes 75% local and 0% overnight.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct home studies at the potential sponsor’s residence, while the unaccompanied child or youth is still in the care of an ORR shelter; or to conduct post-release services where the sponsor and child/youth are connected to resources or other child welfare services, as needed following their release from ORR custody.
  • Home Study services consist of one or more home visits to the sponsors for resident inspection to ensure the home is safe and appropriate environment for the child; interviews include the sponsor and all other household members.
  • Will conduct 1 -2 Home Studies, and 25 Post Release Services; including complex cases of victims of human trafficking, victim of physical and sexual abuse, disabilities, and sponsors who presents a risk to the safety of the child/youth.
  • Provides direct case management services to clients to assist towards the goal of family reunification.
  • Adhering to due dates in the program guidelines for 14-day, monthly and case closure reports.
  • Reviews and maintains accurate and up-to-date client file intakes, assessments, and other required paperwork.
  • Participates in trainings & webinars to better equip oneself in regard to serving clients. In addition, attend continuing education opportunities that will increase knowledge of this position.
  • Ensures services are delivered in accordance with agency culture, mission, vision, and values.
  • Attend continuing education opportunities that will increase knowledge of this position.
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner.
