REPORTS TO: Case Management Supervisor, Refugee Resettlement Services
WORK HOURS: 37.5 Hours Per Week
POSITION SUMMARY
The Preferred Communities (PC) Program supports the resettlement of especially vulnerable refugee groups at locations that the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) refers to as “preferred communities.” Preferred communities offer excellent opportunities for refugees with special or exceptional needs to achieve self-sufficiency. The twin goals of the PC program are:
- The successful resettlement and integration of especially vulnerable refugees (and other ORR client populations).
- The enhancement of PC service providers’ capacity to serve especially vulnerable populations.
The Preferred Communities Case Manager provides trauma-informed Intensive Case Management and family-centered interventions to ORR-eligible individuals experiencing any of the following vulnerabilities: single parents/guardians, clients with physical disabilities or medical conditions requiring ICM, clients with mental health needs, elderly and homebound clients, youth who have spent many years in refugee camps, survivors of domestic violence or gender-based violence, secondary migrants new to the area, and clients who need social adjustment supports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree in social work or related field
- Demonstrated ability to conduct client assessments, develop service plans, implement interventions, and evaluate service effectiveness
- Knowledge of local health care system and community resources
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of cultures, partners and groups; excellent communication skills, organizational and facilitation abilities
- Flexibility and adaptability to work with varying client needs and clients from other cultures
- Must be accurate, detail oriented and organized
- Ability to work well in team environment
- English required, foreign language skills a plus.
- Proficient in computer-based client database systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- At least two years’ experience providing case management services
- State of Ohio LSW
- Experience working in refugee resettlement or with refugee/immigrant populations
- Proficiency in a foreign language native to refugee populations, such as Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French, Tigrinya
