The Mutuals Team in the Approved Persons & Mutuals Department (APM), which is part of the Authorisations Division, is looking for an Associate with responsibility for assessing and managing applications from societies, managing externally facing inboxes, and processing annual return submissions.

In addition, there will be plenty of opportunity for successful candidates to get involved in Team, Departmental and Divisional-wide initiatives, collaborating with colleagues.

What will you be doing?

  • You will be responsible for assessing applications from societies under seven pieces of Mutuals legislation; manging these to tight timescales while ensuring legal compliance
  • Effectively managing externally facing inboxes, tasks will include logging cases and responding to enquiries from a range of external stakeholders
  • Managing your own case load – including making decisions on applications and responding to enquiries (by email and phone)
  • Processing Annual Return submissions from societies ensuring they are suitable for publication
  • Undertake a range of other responsibilities which support the effective running of the Mutuals Team and delivery of our strategy
  • Successful candidates will handle a demanding and varied portfolio of work and use their curiosity and drive to assess them, investigate related issues and take appropriate action to ensure that the right outcome is achieved in a timely manner, in line with our policies and procedures
  • You will work closely with a range of stakeholders in order to achieve good outcomes

Minimum

  • Prior experience managing a varied, high volume and demanding workload, ensuring actions are completed to the standards expected in a timely manner at pace
  • Prior experience in assessing and analysing information from a range of different sources to arrive at the appropriate outcome

  • Engagement: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information & analysis to stakeholders in a clear, concise and compelling way. Ability to engage with empathy and curiosity and use appropriate questioning techniques to strengthen depth of own understanding whether in person, in calls, or in writing
  • Delivery: Ability to maintain focus on achieving desired outcomes. Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills, including proven ability to work under pressure on a diverse set of competing priorities, tasks and issues. Ability to break work down into structured tasks and coordinate effectively with others to deliver on-time, to the desired quality.   • Self-management: Ability to work independently with minimal oversight. Ability to manage own energy and demonstrate resilience when under pressure. Self-aware and willing to learn and develop, adopting a flexible and pragmatic approach to your work
