Description:

The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) works in the Human Resources Consulting and Program Delivery team and supports the delivery of Seaspan’s HR model and business priorities. The HRG provides support to the HR Business Partners and the Director, HR Consulting and Program Delivery in areas such as workforce planning, performance management, employee onboarding and offboarding, retention initiatives, succession planning, employee relations and other HR programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Collaborates with the HR team to build and implement best practices relating to attraction, retention and development of employees based on understanding of operational requirements, research, and technical expertise.
  • Assists managers in developing business plans for position development and recruitment.
  • Assists in the administration of the compensation program by developing job descriptions, coordinating salary evaluations and re-evaluations, and maintaining/updating necessary documentation.
  • Guides managers in the use of performance management systems, the development of performance plans and the preparation of relevant documentation for salary increases.
  • Assists in the facilitation resolution of conflicts and performance issues by suggesting tactics, participating in discussions, and assisting with documentation.
  • May assist HR Business Partners with Respect in the Workplace investigations.
  • May be asked to assist with the interpretation of Collective agreements.
  • Prepares HR documentation including but not limited to: Promotion/transfer letters, Employment Agreements, Performance Management Documentation and Compensation adjustments.
  • Collaborates with the HR team and managers to implement and monitor succession plans by ensuring training plans are fulfilled, feedback is gathered, and the performance of the employees is reviewed at key milestones throughout the program.
  • Assists with research on best practices, developing HR policies, crafting and implementing HR projects and programs.
  • Compiles information for a variety of regulatory reporting requirements such as Employment Equity or Federal Contractors Program. Implements initiatives to improve the Company’s diversity and representation of designated group members.Other related duties as assigned.
