POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking to add Labourers to the team on a casual, on-call basis to support projects in Selkirk, MB. These employees will be called to work to cover illnesses, vacations, or other absences. Labourers are responsible for supporting operators and supervisors to work safely and efficiently by cleaning the site, moving materials, and performing routine maintenance on tools and equipment. Labourers may be responsible for the safe operation of equipment, including rock trucks and packers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Some heavy lifting and physically demanding duties are required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Heavy equipment and valid industry safety tickets are an asset.
- Must be available and willing to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be able to work as a part of a team, as well as independently with little direction or supervision.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and motivated.
- Must have steel toe work boots.
- H2S Alive and First Aid certifications are required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials
Responsibilities:
- Perform general labour tasks as required, including but not limited to digging, sweeping, monitoring, sampling, and spotting for trucks.
- Cleaning of construction sites.
- Performing routine maintenance on tools and equipment, loading and unloading equipment.
- Safe and effective operation of heavy equipment, as required,
- Working with hand tools, moving materials on construction sites, and assisting other workers.
- Proactively notify supervisors any equipment issues or needed repairs.
- Act independently with minimal supervision
- Safely work and travel in weather conditions
- Commit to working safely and following all safety protocols
