JOB SUMMARY

As an on-call Campus Security Officer, you will be entrusted with the safety and protection of individuals and property at Vancouver Talmud Torah. This role involves patrolling the campus to ensure maximum safety and security during pick-up and drop-off, as well as proactively addressing the well-being of students, faculty, staff, and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Basic Security Training (BST) Level 1 qualification
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in security monitoring systems, including Access Control & CCTV Software
  • This role requires a satisfactory background check/vulnerability check prior to hiring.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Google Applications.
  • Preferred: Standard First Aid (CPR and AED)
  • Preferred: Advanced Security Training (AST)

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and attend Security/Police/Fire & EMS calls. Conduct foot patrols throughout the campus to maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and the community.
  • Perform general duties in the Security Operations Center. Address concerns from campus staff and the public, conducting investigations and reporting incidents as necessary.
  • Document malfunctions and alarm activations, including intrusion, personal safety, and mechanical fob access. Cooperate with law enforcement when needed.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as needed during the school year including summer camps/rental bookings and administrative tasks.
  • Conduct building and area searches in the event of security-related concerns.
  • Attend and respond to events, alarms, accidents, emergencies, and medical calls on campus property, assisting with the provision of first aid when required.
  • Prepare written reports and manage unauthorized or suspicious activities.
  • Identify and assess potential crime risks on campus, taking appropriate actions to mitigate them.
  • Monitor and control access points to buildings.
