Casual Safeguarding Steward

In summer 2025, we will leave Goodison Park, our iconic home for more than 130 years, and move to a state-of-the-art 52,888-capacity stadium on the banks of the River Mersey. Our new home will be among the most sustainable, accessible and technologically advanced in the country.

About the opportunity: We are recruiting for the role of Safeguarding Stewards to work at our new home, Everton Stadium.
In this role you will help to ensure the safety and welfare of all our vulnerable groups who attend on a matchday, which will include attending men’s senior team fixtures and providing a high level of care to children, young people, and adults at risk attend the Everton Stadium.
In time there may be an opportunity to work in this capacity at other stadium events, alongside Matchday duties.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
- Being proactive in engaging with families and vulnerable groups, and doing so in a safe and positive manner
- Prioritising the safety of all our vulnerable groups. This includes anyone under 18 years and any adult deemed vulnerable. This will include Matchday, and other events held at Everton Stadium.
- Identifying, addressing, and safeguarding matters on Matchday/Event Day and referring appropriate information to the Head Safeguarding Stewarding Team (MHSS) and Senior Safeguarding Lead (SSL) for action or consideration.
- Recording safeguarding concerns through established Club mechanisms.
- Advocating, embedding and delivering world class safeguarding practice
- Being accessible, visible, and approachable to all our supporters/service users.
- Disseminating relevant information to colleagues and stakeholders in your area of the Matchday/Event Day stewarding provision.
- Observing the practice of colleagues and Matchday/Event Day partners and affiliates when engaging with children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
- Assisting with relevant procedural reviews and safeguarding audits for Matchday.
- Ensuring relevant support or assistance for children, young people and adults at risk is provided where necessary.
- Attending the safeguarding pre match/pre-event steward briefing prior to each home game/event to adequately prepare for the fixture/event
They will also need to continuously represent our club and our values and provide a service befitting of our motto Nil Satis Nisi Optimum (Nothing but the best is good enough)’.
Who we are looking for: We are looking for people who will represent our club, our values and provide a Nil Satis Nisi Optimum service to our fans at all times.
You will have excellent communication skills and be motivated by helping our young supporters and adults who are in need of support, who responds well under pressure, and does so with patience and empathy, will be a team player who shows a willingness to go the extra mile to make sure our supporters are well cared for.
A background in safeguarding or experience working with children or vulnerable adults would be advantageous, but not essential.
These position(s) are on a casual basis, working matchdays from the 2025/26 season.
