The Catastrophe Risk Centre of Excellence (COE) focus on the identification, quantification, and control of risks from natural and non-natural sources. Furthermore, the COE works to provide central risk oversight and define aggregation limits for the division and cascade them down to the appropriate business units. You will be working in a global team responsible for the risk management across the AXA XL division supporting Legal entity reporting, various stakeholders across the wider organisation, management of the internal modelling best practices, as well as assisting in regulatory requests.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Support the delivery of a few external returns related to both natural and non-natural catastrophe exposure management from regulators in various jurisdictions, including Lloyd’s, PRA, CBI and the BMA.
  • Assist with the reporting of catastrophe risk to legal entity boards and risk committees, helping to provide meaningful insight into the risks exposed.
  • Enhance the current framework for monitoring non-Nat Cat risk against appetites for AXA XL division and its legal entities, including the development of new scenarios for evolving risks.
  • Perform RDS and Stress Test analyses in line with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with ad-hoc internal and external analysis across both Nat Cat and non-Nat Cat risks.
  • Develop and perform control assessments to ensure accurate reporting of catastrophe risk.
  • Collaborate across the team to achieve project goals and develop best practice reporting frameworks throughout the business.
  • Apply analytical expertise and product knowledge on a broad range of research assignments within the risk function including the development and enhancement of methodologies and systems for risk exposure analyses and accumulation control.
  • Develop resources, presentations and communication material for colleagues, management, and leadership on risk management topics.
  • Risk capacity budgeting and allocations.
  • Interpretation of risk modelling and risk evaluation.
  • Delivering portfolio, segment and divisional risk aggregations and risk reporting.
  • Facilitating reviews of portfolio PML’s, risk drivers & concentrations.

You will report to the Catastrophe Risk Reporting Manager.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A degree in a quantitative field.
  • Relevant experience in Insurance with an understanding of risk modelling, underwriting and reinsurance concepts is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of catastrophe modelling software (Nat Cat and / or Non-Nat Cat) would be beneficial.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Programming experience (SQL, R, Python) is beneficial.
