The Role:

  • As Category Manager, you will be a key player in the new Team, you will support the Category Director in delivering on our strategic objectives to the business. You will be responsible for building and delighting your own stakeholder community, professionalising your category of spend and our dealings with the supply chain.

Purpose of job:

  • Being the primary point of contact within the Group Procurement Team for the IT and marketing spend category
  • Being a trusted advisor to the business on all matters related to IT and Marketing procurement
  • Building the long-term category strategy for IT and Marketing procurement with our operational stakeholders
  • Building and maintaining a portfolio of market/supplier contacts for IT and Marketing strategic procurement exercises

The Team:
You will join a new Group Procurement function at the start of its transformation journey and play a key role in ensuring we deliver costs savings, maximum value and a quality service across the organisation.

What you will be responsible for:

  • The successful creation and execution of category strategies/projects within your category space, whilst developing and maintaining knowledge of each category including market dynamics.
  • Continuously work with strategic supply partners to assess product and service innovation whilst putting our customers at the hearts of our specifications and service levels
  • Develop long term category strategies appropriate to product and services within your remit and deliver maximum commercial benefit through the selection and application of appropriate procurement processes
  • Implement Supplier Relationship Management with strategic suppliers
  • Measure & review supplier performance and promote continuous performance improvement
  • Developing and upskilling the procurement skills of your stakeholder community
  • Delivering to a personal savings target aligned to the team target
  • Resolve escalated supplier performance issues
  • Embedding category management into the everyday working practices of Group Procurement

Your skills, experience and qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • Minimum 2 years working within a strategic procurement function as a Category Manager
  • An expert in supplier relationship development and performance improvement
  • Tender and contract procurement practice and processes
  • Category Management and sourcing tools and techniques
  • Negotiation of complex and/or high value contracts
