CATEGORY MERCHANT

Compensation: Starting annual salary of $61,000-76,000 + three performance bonuses a year!
Location: In-office role in Sidney, NE

An exciting opportunity to lead an ambitious companys customer success and growth initiatives. The Category Merchant will play an important role on the Merchandising team by analyzing and collaborating with our team to drive long-term strategic initiatives. The incumbent of this role must be highly analytical and strategic in nature, with the confidence to make sound judgment calls to drive category development and expansions, driving forward company sales and margin. IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of best-in-class Merchandising, Procurement, or E-commerce practices
  • Demonstrated competency in new product content development
  • Educational degree in business, data science, or a research-related field
  • Critical thinker with advanced problem-solving skills
  • Ability to confidently make critical decisions using sound judgment independently
  • Effective communicator capable of driving cross functional collaboration
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize data
  • Advanced MS Excel skills

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research, analyze, and refine product data and assortments.
  • Identify standards for product lines and customer behavior to ensure the company is a leader in the industry regarding product data and content.
  • Innovate and source new product lines and existing product line expansions.
  • Define and execute effective strategies for product line management leading to incremental gross profit growth
  • Develop subject matter expertise on product lines and consult on marketing and e-commerce activities as needed.
  • Ensure optimal sales growth and profitability of categories through analysis of performance data.
  • Improve supplier and contractual relationships.
  • Develop and implement annual cost reduction projects.
  • Conduct post-promotion investigation to study the marketing impact to category and brand.
  • Perform all other related duties as required or directed.
