Job description
As Category Operations Leader you will establish and ensure operational excellence in the area of land transportation, with a long-term focus based on supply chain goal and business plan.

In the role of Category Operations Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Together with Category Manager and/or Category Operations Manager define the Category operations agenda based on the Category’s direction & priorities.
  • Play a key role in the definition of current and future logistics and transport service and value proposition.
  • Service Provider’s (SP) performance: Support the process of defining and securing SP’s performance (develop KPIs, follow-ups, ways of working, etc.), to meet both todays and future demands.
  • Lead relevant projects, based on respective competence and area of responsibility (e.g. digitalisation, innovation, implementation of new concepts, performance management, etc.).
  • Lead the development of new concepts, tools, and ways of working to support a sustainable SP management and development. Coordinate and steer the aligned implementation in all locations, globally.
  • Responsible for working methods, education packages and other steering documents. Support and/or lead global SPOD / SPOL education meetings.
  • Develop and/or support innovations within transport and logistics (process and product perspective); investigate new technologies and solutions; support the implementation and secure needed competence.
  • Contribute to the procurement process in the preparation and evaluation of procurement activities with the respective operational know-how (e.g. safety standards, intermodal specifics, etc.).
  • Participate in external forums / networks, to be up to date with trends in the industry; support the Category’s business development with operational business and market intelligence.
  • Develop new network planning concepts with production cost as a main driver to secure operational excellence and availability for our customers.
  • Responsible for new ways of capacity management in transportation and logistics: balance between supply and demand, preconditions, and optimal capacity.

Qualification

You are the talent we are looking for because you bring the following:

  • Passion for driving continuous improvement and optimisation in the supply chain with the right proactive approach.
  • In-depth understanding of supply chain transport operations, including intermodal solutions, equipment, and road safety regulations and knowledge of transportation rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of emerging transportation technologies (e.g., automation, electrification).
  • Proficiency in using key performance indicators for supply chain management.
  • Strong desire to understand IKEA’s supply chain.
  • Alignment with IKEA’s vision, values, and culture.
  • Several years of experience in transportation management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong analytical skills to translate business needs into actionable initiatives.
  • Global perspective and ability to operate in a matrix environment.
