Job Description

As the Category Optimisation Manager you will be responsible for driving the successful adoption and effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools within the category team.
Reporting directly into the Head of Merchandise you will champion AI technologies, oversee the implementation process and train team members, ensuring that the deployment of these tools leads to measurable commercial improvements.
Influencing multiple stakeholders across functions is crucial to achieving your objectives and ensuring the successful integration and utilisation of AI tools within your category team.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • You’ll be responsible for the development and execution of strategy for the adoption of AI tools within the category team to achieve commercial goals.
  • Build deep knowledge of the Liquor industry and category nuances in relation to Price, Promotion and Range to understand future challenges and shape AI strategy accordingly.
  • Deliver category AI budgets across our Promotion and Pricing initiatives, as well as future use cases.
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Transformation, product managers, data scientists, engineers and finance business partners to identify opportunities where AI can add value.
  • You will lead the category team to leverage AI products to deliver the category strategy by unlocking strong commercial outcomes and managing the team’s change experience.
  • Responsible for the implementation of AI tools within the category team, ensuring they are deployed and adopted effectively and efficiently.
  • Responsible for analysing, reviewing and synthesising the recommendation outputs of AI tools for the category team with an overall objective of streamlining team processes and driving commercial outcomes.
  • Communicate progress, challenges and successes to stakeholders of all levels, including providing insightful commentary on monthly performance metrics.
  • Partner with change management function to ensure team remains connected to AI program vision.
  • Build team commitment to AI strategy, ensuring alignment, direction and role clarity.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you:

  • 5+ years of relevant, senior commercial experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or similar.
  • Experience in retail buying, financial planning and analysis or analytics within Retail.
  • Proven strategy development and implementation experience.
  • Ability to work/influence across different departments & functions.
  • Experience working in a matrix structured organisation where influencing skills at all levels are key to success.
  • Ability to translate data and insights into meaningful and relevant action.
  • Able to present and communicate complex information to a broad audience.
  • Ability to work with an agile mindset and deliver change in teams.Liquor/FMCG experience is highly regarded.
