The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Product, the Category Specialist will be integral in partnering closely with Sales, Operations, Commercial, Procurement, RA, QA, and Master Data to help support NPD launches for all formats and categories in a timely manner and develop a process to streamline our NPD business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Bring an entrepreneurial, solutions orientated mindset and approach to daily tasks and problem solving.
  • Support the organization, communication and collaboration on the development of Product Roadmaps on a quarterly basis, both to leadership and cross functional stakeholders on a ongoing recurring basis for assigned categories.
  • Develop and manage strategic proposals for product roadmap changes to maximize value for the assigned categories based on an understanding of business needs, the supply market, benchmarking, price availability, etc. (Product lifecycle Mgmt)
  • Execute Product Roadmaps quarterly and develop launch plans that follow the new product development (NPD) process.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape to keep abreast of emerging trends, supply/demand, and industry changes and their overall impact to current and anticipated future spend.
  • Maintain project timeline and critical path tracking against launch dates and milestones.
  • Ensure projects meet time and budget constraints, deliver business value, and produce high-quality results.
  • Manage Inventory and Planned Use for Product Categories under management, ensure that product is not sent to E&O as part of NPD launches.
  • Support weekly product meetings by communicating and updating on project status with teams, ensuring cross functional awareness of timeline and tasks are being met. Frequently communicates opportunities and risks.
  • Prioritize projects and resources based on timeline and business impact, ensure priorities are aligned and communicated with leadership.
  • Create, manage, oversee change controls, product specifications and QMS related documentation.
  • Developing Bill of Materials for new products and ensuring accuracy In the ERP system
  • Develop material specifications and documentation for implementing new packaging materials.
  • Prepare label briefs for the Labels & Packaging team and ensure execution that aligns with the project schedule and launch timelines.
  • Document and inform management on issues early and clearly before they become a risk
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • 1 - 3 years of work experience in project management, product development, product innovation, product strategy & technology management
  • Superior organization skills.
  • Knowledge of project governance frameworks and best practices
  • Understanding of cannabis regulatory frameworks is an asset
  • Understanding of Cannabis products, technologies and manufacturing is an asset
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as GMP, HACCP, ISO, GFSI, with strong working knowledge of SOPs, master batch records, and other quality systems an asset
  • Ability to execute on accountabilities, personal leadership and customer focus
  • Proven ability to stay organized and prioritize work for efficient operations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to key stakeholders; document issues and/or concerns clearly and before they become a risk; assess options cross-functionally and articulate well-reasoned recommendations for leadership endorsement; adjust style, language, and/or terminology appropriate for the audience.
  • Superior communication, leadership and teamworking skills
