Description:
University Commercial Services Plymouth Ltd’s (UCSPL) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of The University of Plymouth. UCSP’s vision is to enrich the experience of the students, staff and wider community. We aim to create a financially sustainable and professional service, which currently includes Early Years Education and Care, Retail Catering, Hospitality and Events.
UCSP Ltd are looking to recruit a Catering Assistant based in the JBB Café at the University of Plymouth’s north campus near Derriford, located in the John Bull Building. Under the direction of the Unit Lead and as a member of the catering operations team, you will provide routine activities to assist in the delivery of a customer focused, cost effective and efficient retail catering service.
You will contribute your skills and maintain the excellent customer service in a busy and popular unit whilst supporting the financial needs of the unit with good upselling techniques, ensuring minimum wastage.

This is a part-time, term-time position working 25 hours per week, for 35 weeks a year on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave which is anticipated to be for approximately 12 months. Opportunities for additional overtime and/or flexible working available.
You will have experience of working in a customer service environment and have routine administration and financial understanding. A customer-focussed mind-set is essential and a drive to deliver on and exceed students, staff, and visitor’s expectations. A flexible approach to hours and work is essential, as is adaptability, whilst maintaining high standards and all times.

You should be able to demonstrate you have:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work alone or as part of a team
- Ability to cope under pressure, in a calm and efficient manner
- Previous sales experience in a similar environment
- Good interpersonal skills
