Kings Food the internal catering department of Kings College London are looking to recruit a catering assistant to work at the WHOL on our Denmark Hill campus.
About the role:
As a catering assistant, you will be involved in all aspects of the catering service, including basic food preparation, food service, till operation, barista coffee making, food hygiene, and other duties associated with running the college’s retail units.
The ideal candidate will be a good team player with a passion and commitment to providing excellent customer service. You should have a flexible and positive approach, along with excellent communication skills. Understanding food safety and hygiene regulations is essential.
The position is offered on a five out of seven days basis and will involve working evenings and weekends.
About you: (the candidate)
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
2. Basic level of computer literacy (ability to access email and online training)
3. Experience of working in a catering environment
4. Understanding of all relevant health, hygiene, and safety regulations
5. Good written and oral communication
6. Experience of providing a service to customers
7. Experience of operating a till and taking payments
8. Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Desirable criteria
1. NVQ level 1 or equivalent catering qualification
2. Hold a current Food Handlers certificate.
