Description:
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous catering experience in hospital setting or similar role an advantage.
- HACCP trained would be a distinct advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- You will be an excellent team player and have experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ability to work on own initiative whilst being an effective team member.
- Strong customer service skills, awareness & sensitivity towards patients & customers.
- Polite and professional manner
Responsibilities:
OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
To prepare and serve food/drink to the patients of UPMC Kildare Hospital. To ensure the kitchen is always clean.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prep and cooking patient meals in line with the pre-planned weekly menus - to portion, store, dispatch and serve food and beverages to patients, staff and visitors as directed.
- Ensuring that all food production is in line with high food standards.
- To clean equipment and associated areas of work in accordance with cleaning schedules using recommended detergents, to leave kitchen and service area spotless at the end of the shift.
- Adhere to good practice with regard to hygiene, health and safety and HACCP.
- Working effectively within the kitchen team to ensure high customer service standards.
- Minimising waste, improving waste reduction.
- Assist with record keeping as directed by catering manager/chef.
- Carry out other duties as directed by line manager.
Health and Safety:
- To uphold UPMC Kildare Hospital’s policy requirements in relation to Fire, Infection Control and Health and Safety at Work regulations and to attend updates.
- Identify potential risks for all staff, patients and visitors and adhere to relevant incident reporting procedures.
- To observe a general duty of care for the health, safety and well-being of self, work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital, in addition to any specific risk management associated with this post.
