Hours of Work: 37.5 per week. Monday to Friday

King Edward VII’s Hospital is a prestigious 56-bed acute facility renowned for its commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. Our hospital features a 4-bed Critical Care Unit (CCU) equipped to provide both Level 2 and Level 3 care, supported by a 24/7 Outreach service. We offer a comprehensive range of surgical procedures, including elective orthopaedic, gynaecological, cosmetic, vascular, and urology surgery.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced CCU/Outreach Manager to lead our Critical Care Services. You will oversee the daily operations of the CCU, ensuring high standards of clinical care and patient safety. Your leadership will directly influence patient outcomes, and you will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive environment for both staff and patients.
In this role, you will manage a skilled team, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and implement innovative practices to drive continuous improvement in critical care. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a current NMC registration.
  • Postgraduate qualification in critical care/Outreach
  • Significant clinical experience in critical care settings with proven leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of critical care protocols and clinical governance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound clinical decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Provide professional leadership and managerial oversight for the clinical staff within the Critical Care Unit, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment that prioritises high-quality patient care.
  • Clinical Excellence: Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care by acting as a clinical role model, supporting staff in implementing best practices, and maintaining high standards of care.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the daily operations of the Critical Care Services, including the effective utilisation of nursing and financial resources, ensuring the department functions within budget while optimising staffing levels and resource allocation.
  • Patient Experience Improvement: Collaborate with service users to evaluate and enhance the patient experience, incorporating feedback into service delivery and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in and lead multi-professional audit programmes, including national audits, ensuring compliance with clinical governance standards and implementing changes based on audit findings to enhance service delivery.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Maintain effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and support staff to streamline patient care processes and ensure seamless service delivery across departments.
  • Complaint Management: Actively participate in the local resolution of complaints, coordinating investigations and ensuring that lessons learned contribute to service improvement and patient safety.
  • Strategic Development: Work closely with the Chief Nursing Officer to provide clinical leadership, management, and operational direction, contributing to the development of clinical service business plans and the delivery of performance targets.
  • Clinical Governance Participation: Ensure the implementation of clinical governance activities within the CCU, promoting evidence-based practice and contributing to hospital-wide quality initiatives.
  • Professional Development: Support staff development through mentorship, training, and evaluation, fostering a culture of lifelong learning and continuous professional development within the team.
