Responsibilities:

Climate change and environmental degradation pose significant threats to children around the world, jeopardizing the progress made in child survival and development. Over a billion children are already at extremely high risk from environmental and climate hazards such as heatwaves, floods, and cyclones. These impacts threaten to reverse decades of progress in ensuring every child can survive, grow, and thrive. To address this, there is an urgent need for countries to adapt, prepare, and build climate-resilient, low-carbon social services—such as water, sanitation, healthcare, education, nutrition, social protection, and child protection—to cope with the increasing frequency and severity of climate hazards. Investing in these areas offers some of the best opportunities to protect children.
