Description:

We are seeking a Cell Biology Co-op to join the Therapeutic Cell Platforms team. The successful candidate assist in the design, development, and testing of bioprinted therapeutics for preclinical use. They will also provide support for the maintenance and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) to be used for bioprinting, assay development, and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven image analysis. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a team of cell biologists, biomaterials experts, and engineers to develop bioprinted tissues that could transform the way we develop medicines and treat disease.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education + Experience: Undergraduate student enrolled in cell biology, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, or similar program.
  • Professional Experience: Ideally have work experience in a laboratory setting through previous co-op or internship programs.
  • Research Experience: Hands-on experience with image-based software analysis, aseptic technique, mammalian cell culture, experimental techniques for analyzing cell cultures (ELISA, colorimetric assays, immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy), and data analysis.
  • Beneficial Experience: Experience working with primary cells, hPSC-derived cells, or 3D culture systems would be advantageous.

If you’re interested in joining our team but don’t see a job posting that matches your experience or background, we encourage you to submit a general application to be considered for future opportunities

Responsibilities:

  • Support the growth and maintenance of hPSCs for liver cell differentiation and bioprinting, adhering to aseptic techniques.
  • Perform in vitro assays to assess the health, function, and maturation of 3D tissues, including techniques such as cell viability assays, immunostaining, flow cytometry and ELISA.
  • Support the long-term maintenance of bioprinted human tissue models using advanced 3D cell culture techniques.
  • Implement machine learning algorithms to support assay development, including AI-driven image analysis of 2D and 3D cultures.
  • Create experimental reports and present experimental results in team meetings.
  • Maintain clear and rigorous experimental records, including electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Help maintain laboratory supplies and reagents.
