Description:
Ideally you’ll have experience in some, but not necessarily all, of the following areas:
- High-throughput screening using image-based techniques and flow cytometry
- Single-cell cloning and candidate selection from screening in adherent and suspension culture, incorporating high-throughput and automated liquid handling tools
- Target validation including phenotypic and functional assays
- Analysis of qPCR, NGS/WGS and RNA-seq data (bulk and single-cell samples)
- Experience with ELN/LIMS
- Understanding of GMP (or equivalent) regulations concerning cell line development
- Mesenchymal stem/stromal cell culture and differentiatio
Responsibilities:
As one of the scientists in the Cell Engineering team, you will be responsible for engineering and validating new adipogenic cell lines. Your work will focus on optimising and improving our cell line engineering pipeline to accelerate the screening of new gene targets for knock-in and knock-out approaches. You will spend 75% of your time doing hands-on laboratory work, including molecular biology and cell culture. The cell lines that you develop will be essential to our R&D and manufacturing process at Hoxton Farms.
Be part of our team in person- this role is five days a week onsite.
You should have:
- A PhD (or equivalent experience in industry) in molecular biology, synthetic biology, mammalian stem cell biology, or a related discipline
- At least one year’s experience (post-PhD) working in mammalian cell line development and genome engineering, preferably in a commercial setting
- Excellent knowledge of molecular biology, cell line engineering tools, molecular cloning and genetic construct design
- Proficiency in genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 and related technologies
- Experience optimising transfections and transductions
- Proficiency in PCR-based methods and Sanger sequencing for characterisation of edited cell lines
- Proven ability in managing projects and coordinating workflows involving cell line development and molecular biology
- Enthusiasm, curiosity and drive
- A talent for teamwork and collaboration
