Job Description:
Summary:

Students will assist the Managing Director of the Center for Israel Studies in implementing the projects and programs planned for the academic year. Students who are looking to gain non-profit work experience and have an interest in Israel, international affairs, or public relations are encouraged to apply. Job responsibilities will include substantive work such as research, editing, data analysis, and event planning (20+ events per year), as well as administrative work.

  • Students with a Federal Work Study Award are highly encouraged to apply to this position.
  • Positions start at the beginning of the fall semester and continue throughout the academic year concluding at the end of the spring semester.
  • Hours for this position are flexible and may include evening event support.

Duties May Include:

  • creating promotional materials, assistance with department events and lectures, social media management, copying, and filing.
  • Special projects will be created as they arise.
  • Students must be dependable, organized, skilled at working with Microsoft Word and Excel, and comfortable representing American University and the Center at public events.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Educational Requirements: High school diploma.
  • Minimum Requirements: Students must be dependable, organized, skilled at working with Microsoft Word and Excel, and be flexible to work on multiple tasks are of high importance. Previous work experience in an office or customer service setting is a plus.
  • Prior office experience and/or photography experience is helpful.

Compensation:

  • $17.50-$17.75 per hour.
