JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a Central Sterile Technician II, you will work in the decontamination room cleaning and assembling surgical instruments. You will remain knowledgeable of surgical instruments, tray set ups, sterilizing techniques, and basic sterile processing department practices, and will operate all sterile processing equipment safely and efficiently. As a Central Sterile Technician II, you will work in the decontamination room cleaning and assembling surgical instruments. You will remain knowledgeable of surgical instruments, tray set ups, sterilizing techniques, and basic sterile processing department practices, and will operate all sterile processing equipment safely and efficiently.

  • You will clean and decontaminate surgical instruments using detergents and disinfecting solutions.
  • You will wrap, seal, and label items that are to be sterilized
  • You will sterilize instruments, equipment, surgical linen, and related supplies using plasma and steam sterilizers
  • You will prepare surgical packs, instruments, dressings, and treatment trays
  • You will ensure proper storage of sterilized and prepared supplies and equipment in designated areas
  • You will inventory equipment used and record daily patient charges
  • You will inform bio-med of equipment that is no longer serviceable or of any other issues that arise
  • You will compile department statistics and file information as assigned

Experience

  • 6 months of previous sterile processing experience or related training – required

Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, or proof of higher level education if hired after January 1, 2014

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy
