Description:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Relevant vocational qualification in commercial cookery.
- Food Safety Supervisors Certificate.
- Experience and passion for cooking and presenting a variety of nutritious foods suitable for children aged 0 to 6.
- Previous kitchen management and chef experience.
- Prior experience in an Early Learning or Educational facility is desirable.
- Strong time management skills and confidence in kitchen management.
- Reliability, positivity, and excellent organizational skills.
- Precision in managing allergy and intolerance requirements during daily food preparation and delivery.
- High-quality customer service skills when interacting with colleagues, families, and children.
- Must have, or be willing to obtain, a First Aid, CPR, and Anaphylaxis certificate.
- Working with Children Check.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with flexible shift arrangements to benefit the service needs.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare daily nutritious meals, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea for children aged 0 to 6, considering dietary requirements and preparing purees as needed.
- Cater to the needs of children with special dietary requirements and allergies.
- Adhere to the centre’s nutrition policy and guidelines.
- Engage with Educators, children, and families to foster a sense of community and involvement.
- Conduct cooking programs for the children as required.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen in accordance with centre policies.
- Handle weekly ordering and procure additional ingredients as necessary for menu preparation.
- Ability to create a 4 week rotational seasonal menu in line with Nutrition Australia requirements.
