Description:
SUMMARY
Ensures that all approved certification procedures, delegations, regulations, policies, and approved methods of compliance are followed and/or properly executed in support of Jamco America certification projects.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following other duties may be assigned.
- Perform a wide variety of certification-related tasks requiring a complete understanding of FAA regulations and guidance material. Represent Jamco America certification interests in technical interface meetings with airline customers and the FAA, exhibiting mature interpersonal, language, and leadership skills.
- Be eligible for appointment as an ODA Unit Member or function as a delegated ODA Unit Member.
- Prepare, sign, and submit correspondence to the FAA and other regulatory agencies on behalf of the Manager Certification Regulatory Group.
- Compile certification cost and schedule estimates in support of project proposals. Develop tools/databases and standardized estimate values for future projects.
- Lead the development, preparation, and documentation of standardized regulatory and certification guidance material. Assist in obtaining FAA approval, as required.
- Lead the development, preparation, and documentation of certification procedures and checklist to be followed by the company, CRG, and/or ODA. Ensure that certification procedures support and are properly integrated with other company procedures. Assist in obtaining FAA approval, as required.
- Assist in the development, preparation, and documentation of FAA-approved methods of compliance for all applicable regulations. Assist in obtaining FAA approval, as required.
- Assist the ODA Administrators in the execution of all ODA procedures and the maintenance of Jamco America continued eligibility for ODA.
- Identify and incorporate lessons learned in to organizational procedures.
- Lead other Certification Engineers and Certification Specialists on major projects. Assist the Certification Engineering Manager, as required, in support of Jamco America certification projects.
- Develop training material on certification/ODA procedures, on regulatory guidance material, and on accepted methods of compliance. Conduct training for ODA Unit Members, FAA OMT, and Jamco America personnel.
- Assist the ODA Lead Administrator in the development, evaluation, and appointment of ODA Unit Members.
- Assist the ODA Lead Administrator in support of FAA OMT audits and the performance of Jamco America ODA self-audits.
- Assist the ODA Lead Administrator in scheduling and convening the Jamco America Safety Review Board. Monitor and maintain records on all reported safety-related and non-compliance issues.
- Prepare certification management reports which include current performance metrics, historical results, budget, forecasts, and/or performance trends.
- Support other external reporting requirements including government surveys, Unit Member annual evaluations, and JSOX/FAA audit requirements.
- Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls.

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
- Position requires completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years or more of experience in aircraft engineering and certification roles, or equivalent education and experience (18 years minimum in an aerospace related field).
Knowledge:
- General Engineering: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various systems, goods and services.
- General Design: Able to read and understand Computer Aided Design (CAD) designs, drawings and specifications. General knowledge of design techniques, tools, and
principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models. Familiar with CAD modeling tools used by Jamco America.
- Certification/Aircraft Design: Extensive knowledge of the FAA requirements for the installation of aircraft interior system/subsystem components, e.g. 14 CFR Part 25, and OEM Design requirements (Standard Wiring Practices, Boeing Design Manual/Specifications, Standard Interface Documents, etc). Extensive understanding of aircraft terms, design requirements and certification processes.
- Administration: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, advanced leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources. Able to work in a team environment, able to coordinate projects from start to end, lead teams of certification engineers and accept required roles, responsibilities and accountability.
