How you make a difference:
A Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting patient care by gathering essential information during the clinical process under the supervision of Registered Nurses. They assist nurses with various tasks, ensuring that activities align with their education and demonstrated competencies. This position is key in maintaining efficient and effective patient care delivery within the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers, and manage patient vital signs, medical histories, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Complete lab and x-ray requisitions, enter patient data into the computer system, and ensure timely completion of medical charting in compliance with clinic policies and JC guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate health education strategies and programs, serving as a resource for health education within the community.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, ensure compliance with care standards, and provide care within ethical and legal boundaries.
  • Participate in orientation, competency programs, committees, and customer service initiatives, reporting to the Director of Nursing Services.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by one of the following:
  • Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
  • Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists
  • A formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces

Licenses/Certifications

  • A medical assistant program approved for certification by:
  • The California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants
  • Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC)
  • Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS)
  • Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET)
  • Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior College (ACCJC).
  • Must possess and maintain current BLS certification in one of the following, prior to start:
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course.

Additional Details : This position is as a Wellpath employee working at a Department of Defense military base in San Diego, CA. Various shifts available.
