Our team is built on safety, integrity, and environmental responsibility, and we are looking for a Certified Utility Arborist (CUA) to join our growing workforce.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are hiring a Certified Utility Arborist (CUA) to utilize our bucket truck to perform vegetation management, tree pruning, and hazard tree removal near energized powerlines and utility corridors. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working in proximity to high-voltage electrical systems and is comfortable working at heights, using climbing techniques, bucket trucks, and various cutting tools.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Certified Utility Arborist (CUA) certification (mandatory).
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in utility arboriculture or related field.
• Experience working near energized power lines and understanding of electrical hazards.
• Proficiency in climbing techniques, aerial lift operation, and chainsaw use.
• Ability to read work orders, maps, and follow clearance guidelines.
• Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Air Brake Endorsement preferred).
• Chainsaw safety and fire extinguisher awareness.
• First Aid (OFA Level 1 or higher) certification is an asset.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Certified tree felling is an asset.
• BC Hydro PSSP training is an asset.
• Danger tree removal certification is an asset.

• Perform tree trimming, pruning, and removals in compliance with utility safety regulations.
• Work around high-voltage power lines and follow all safety procedures.
• Operate chainsaws, pole saws, bucket trucks, and climbing gear.
• Assess tree health and hazards to determine best removal or pruning methods.
• Follow WorkSafeBC regulations and industry standards for safe tree operations.
• Safely use rigging equipment to lower limbs and branches.
• Communicate with team members, supervisors, and utility representatives.
• Assist with site cleanup, debris removal, and restoration.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, SWPs, and hazard assessments.
