QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ACS Technician shall have qualifications in the following areas:
  • Aircraft Refinishing which includes special processes like aircraft and components painting, Alodine and Sealant application;
  • Aircraft structural repairs (secondary and tertiary structures);
  • General metal work including heat treatment process;
  • Special Inspections (NS) and Field Modifications (CF) and CD (contractor modifications that can be accomplished and certified within their qualifications;
  • Metal to metal bonding;
  • Basic composite repairs;
  • Aircraft tubing manufacturing;
  • A basic knowledge with machining operation; and
  • Operate powered and electrically operated equipment.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and/or Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;
  • For on-site positions, our location not accessible by public transport, car/carpooling required : Direction to Our Facility

Responsibilities:

YOUR ROLE:

  • As an CF-18 Structural Techician and instructor for POM to Level A development you will support the L3 Harris (MAS) Periodic Inspection Crews with both refinishing and structural repairs, assist with the preservation and maintenance of unavailable aircraft under L3Harris control. In addition, you will support 4 Wing First line units with structural repairs as agreed upon by the CO 1 AMS and the L3Harris Site Lead.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Employed in the Refinishing or Metal Work Shop, be able to carry out shop related tasks as a CF-18 Structural Technician and provide technical expertise and guidance for DND personnel under training and junior technician. AS a subject Matter Expert, Provide consistence and continuity for the shop personnel to ensure production and support phase inspections.
  • Assists with support to the periodic inspections, or any conditional inspection, supplementary inspection, modification or special inspection in accordance with the Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTO) and established work instructions;
  • Attend training / information sessions as required;
  • Keep Lead Hand / Supervisor informed on technical problems, schedule problems, additional requirement and technician’s welfare;
  • Follow Tool Control rules and regulations;
  • Consult reference documentation such as CFTO’s, work processes and other related documentation;
  • Complete aircraft inspection sheets, forms, aircraft sets, registers and other documentation properly and as required;
  • Utilize safe working practices;
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Lead Hand / Supervisor;
  • Conform to the administrative and technical regulations of the establishment to which they are assigned, with regard to the following:
  • Health and Safety;
  • Flight Safety;
  • Documentation and records;
  • Work Instruction;
  • Processes specifications.
