This critical communications role is dedicated to driving compelling employee communications and cultural change.
The successful candidate will work directly with leaders and colleagues across the business, this individual will develop and deliver global change communication strategies and plans in support of the Change Management team and other global functions’ programs.
The person in this role is committed to high quality and innovative communication. Someone who brings a level of energy and commitment to grab employees’ attention, by creative storytelling and enjoys working in a fast paced, collaborative environment. They must have the expertise to develop, deliver and target messaging to a broad audience using different media channels.
Reporting to and working closely with the OCM Lead for global regulatory affairs change management, they will support change programs to help deliver seamless, accessible and engaging communications in a complex environment.
This is a hands-on role that requires a communicator who will both conceive and implement the communications strategy and tactical elements.
The key responsibilities of the role may include:
- Develop change communication plan and implement global employee communication strategies and tactics in support of global regulatory affairs communications and programs that drive cultural change, engagement and risk management.
- Drive employee connection to our purpose, the role the global regulatory affairs at the Bank, our strategic vision, beliefs and ways of working, and to their leaders and each other.
- Align communication strategies, plans and activities to tell a cohesive story across the entire risk and controls enhancement program.
- Leverage a wide range of internal communications channels and tactics including podcast, video, written, to inform, educate, and engage Northern Trust partners up to and including senior level audience.
- Provide project management support including planning, tracking of key activities, ensuring timely delivery, and providing regular status reporting to program stakeholders and leadership.
- Collect planned communications, engagements and change impacts via standardized tools / templates.
- Work closely with Change Learning Manager and other key stakeholders to map planned communications across projects to ensure cohesive change stories to impacted stakeholder groups.
- Ensure reviewers and approvers are understood and documented to enable an efficient content distribution process (i.e., SMEs, HR, Legal, Business Leaders)
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- Several years of employee communications experience supporting enterprise-wide programs, (risk management preferred).
- A self-starter with proven track record in delivery of communication strategies.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal and written with all audiences, including senior leaders, in a structured manner, including on high-sensitivity topics.
- Ability to establish trust-based relationships with stakeholders across enterprise, including experience effectively reviewing and challenging and raising awareness of key stakeholders.
- Practiced capacity to handle complex projects with multiple stakeholders using a collegiate manner.
- Shows expertise in developing and delivering impactful messages with excellent verbal, written, digital communications; ability to achieve cut through with a succinct, approachable communication style.
- Work with communications partners across all businesses to understand employee audiences, adapting communications strategies to address unique needs.
- Keen understanding of innovative and best practice communication channels, methodology and measurement.
- Brings a business outcomes approach to communications work.
- Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools (Prosci Change Management certification preferred).
- Proven successful track record working in large/complex multi-location programs/projects.
- Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively.
- Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle.
