University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust welcomes experienced healthcare chaplains applicants for this full time position within the Spiritual Care Team. The post holder will be responsible for the continuing development of a high standard of religious, pastoral and spiritual care for patients, their relatives, staff and visitors at UHS, regardless of faith or cultural traditions.
As an experienced chaplain, you are expected to deliver pastoral, spiritual, and religious support as outlined in the NHS Chaplaincy Guidelines and working in line with the UKBHC Code of Conduct for Healthcare Chaplains. This involves listening to and being alongside people of all faiths and beliefs including those of no faith.
You will will be joining a well established, friendly and supportive multi faith team who are keen to add an excellent team player with the ability to resolving complex issues. The Spiritual Care service runs 7 days a week and duties of the post holder require a commitment to an On-Call rota to ensure continuity of service during periods of leave.

The Chaplain will take part in the day-to-day activities of the team including
- ministering to patients, carers and loved ones on wards as well as in the Chapel;
- organising and partaking in services and events
- To provide staff support following complex and demanding clinical situations as well as wellbeing programmes
- providing support upon bereavement including during difficult situations such as infant or sudden death and trauma
- To work collaboratively with key allied professionals to develop learning and working practise together.
