Mission
Chapter Lead Architect for Payments & Settlement Services and Core Banking sets the standards for the Architecture chapter area and takes responsibility for developing, innovating and safeguarding knowledge in the field of expertise. Develops and leads people to meet both their individual goals, career goals, organization’s goals. Translates business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change by creating, communicating and improving the key principles and models that describe the future state and enable its evolution to deliver the IT Architecture for the organization and its customers.
Day to day activities:
- Document complex “as is” and “to be” processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the “to be” capability to record accurately the change required.
- Define and maintain a road map to facilitate application software development and ensure the development work is prioritized in line with business requirements.
- Support the delivery of the target architecture/solution, identifying and understanding constraints and balancing quality decision making. Escalate complex issues to management.
- Create/manage architecture storyboards/viewpoints that articulate business requirements.
- Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and evaluate their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.
- Communicate the actions needed to implement the function’s strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization’s mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
- Monitor and review performance and behaviors within area of responsibility to identify and resolve noncompliance with the organization’s policies and relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct.
- Motivate and support the growth of all members of a mid-sized team using equitable approaches to performance management and development that may be differentiated to support each employee’s unique needs and preferences in order to bring out their best and meet business needs.
- Use the organization’s formal development framework to identify the team’s individual development needs.
- Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
- Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project / account team members and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team / personal objectives.
- Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Provide guidance to developers and build patterns by creating Cookbooks. Escalate deviations if necessary.
What you bring to the team
- Domain knowledge on core banking or payments & settlements services.
- Previous architecture experience on core banking or payments systems is a plus.
- Operate as a recognized expert to understand business context, needs, rules, and architecture, as well as organizational structure, cultures, capabilities, and processes to document the current state of processes and the business.
- You coordinate the design, advise and present (target) architectures and roadmaps and the architecture guidance and validations. You define and align (global) architecture standards and reference architectures.
- Understand the principles of cyber security. You have advanced level of experience in the application of cyber security policies security policies (technical standards and procedures) to the organization.
- You operate as a recognized expert to envision and document the future state of processes and products by identifying the solution scope, potential value of the future state, and the changes to the process, products, organization infrastructure, capabilities, and technology necessary to achieve the desired future state.
- You are the go-to person for Architects and Senior Management for architecture advice on complex issues relating to Change and in Run activities.
- You have co-creation skills (workshops, guiding, constraining, selling, telling). Coaches and mentors more junior colleagues.
- You coordinate architecture designs for short term (2 - 6 months) as well as medium term (12 – 18 months).
- Engineering skills. You have thorough knowledge of content and architecture of multiple domains and/or platforms (technologies, applications, business processes). You have level of architecture expertise to coach and mentor other architects.
- Apply expertise to act as the organizational authority on making sure the organization develops and maintains the culture, values and design it needs to reach its objectives while managing structural change.
- Coordinate architecture activities for incremental changes (maintaining and extending existing solutions)and innovative changes (conceiving new solutions for emerging opportunities) for a platform or domain.
- You coordinate management of stakeholders up to senior management.
