What you’ll do
As a Chapter Lead data and ML engineering, you are responsible for building, staffing, mentoring, and guiding teams of engineers within the Eneco digital organization. You will foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation. As a senior engineering leader, you will oversee technical excellence, and establish and develop software engineering best practices. You will work closely with other senior leaders to coordinate Eneco’s digital strategy, spanning data science, analytics, engineering, and product. You will get a seat at the table and the opportunity to influence strategic decisions in your area.
Is this about you?
- Extensive experience in at least one digital company, as senior leader of a software engineering organization.
- Expertise in data and ML engineering: ML model lifecycle, modern enterprise data management, data integration, and distributed data processing.
- Excellent software engineering skills, from architecture to operations.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to navigate enterprise complexity and ambiguity, and to convince at a senior leadership level.
- Exposure to cloud technologies. Knowledge of Azure would be a plus.
- Genuine care for the environment.
- Empathy and care for the personal and professional growth of your team members.
- High level of initiative and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to easily switch between move-fast- and no-margin-for-error-modes.
You’ll be responsible for
- Leadership and strategy: Lead a team of managers overseeing the development of a portfolio of Eneco digital products. Steer product strategy according to your technical expertise. Set a vision. Maintain a robust software development lifecycle while empowering product teams to operate in a decentralized organization.
- Mentorship and development: Develop a mentorship framework for engineers, including pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. Foster software engineering best practices and support professional growth. Identify skill gaps, conduct regular feedback conversations, and provide opportunities for learning and development. Build a culture of continuous improvement and build rituals for knowledge exchange and professional growth.
- Recruitment and talent management: Oversee the recruitment of engineers in your area. Collaborate with your community of senior engineering leaders on hiring strategy, roles, job descriptions, and recruitment process. Connect the right talent to projects and initiatives. Collaborate with other Chapter Leads and Group Product Managers to guarantee we maximise human development and business outcomes.
- Stakeholders: Join a community of senior leaders with world-class expertise in developing digital organizations. Pair with group product managers to influence product strategy in your domain. Build strong connections with senior business leaders and influence Eneco’s digital transformation.

Gross annual salary between €130.000 and €150.000
