Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

The Checkpoint Firewall Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting Checkpoint firewall systems. The role requires an in-depth understanding of firewall architectures, network security principles, and Checkpoint’s suite of products to safeguard the organization’s data and network infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design & Implementation

  • Plan, design, and implement Checkpoint firewall solutions in alignment with the organization’s security policies and business objectives.
  • Develop firewall rules, policies, and network configurations to ensure secure data transfer and access control.
  • Design VPN solutions and configure secure remote access connections.

Maintenance & Support

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain Checkpoint firewall systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades of firewall appliances and management servers.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, identify security risks, and apply necessary mitigations.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor network traffic and firewall logs to detect and respond to security incidents or anomalies.

Design & Implementation

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor network traffic and firewall logs to detect and respond to security incidents or anomalies.
  • Provide troubleshooting and problem resolution for firewall-related issues, including network connectivity and security rule conflicts.
  • Collaborate with the network and security operations teams to ensure firewall configurations align with broader IT security strategies.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate documentation of firewall configurations, network diagrams, and security policies.
  • Ensure firewall solutions comply with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing required documentation and evidence of compliance.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with IT teams, security analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of firewall systems with other network and security infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and other team members.

Certifications Mandatory

  • CCSE (Certified Security Expert)
  • CCTE (Certified Troubleshooting Expert)
